Thank you for visiting First Baptist Church. We would like to give you some information
about our church and it’s ministries. For our Summer Worship, we hold our service on Sunday
mornings at 9:00am and Sunday School begins at 10:15am. We have Infant Nursery Service
available for these times as well as Children’s Church for Ages 3,4 & 5 and Elementary Children’s
Church for Ages 6 through 5th Grade. We have Sunday School for all ages as well. If you have any
questions or to schedule a meeting with one of our Pastors call 815-234-8737.
What an exciting time it is to share in what God is doing in our Church @ First Baptist, in
our Byron community and surrounding area, and in our Church Conference, Converge Worldwide and
Converge Midwest. Reports in the media focus on the instability of our economy. It could be
tempting to allow Satan to infect us with fear in these times. Will we allow the economic
downturn to diminish our ministry dreams or dampen our faith? Absolutely not! Hebrews 13:5-6
tells us: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because
God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The
Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”. The Lord IS my helper; I will
NOT be afraid. What can man do to me? It is our blessing to be able to speak these words with
emphasis and with confidence! God is our helper and He will never leave us or forsake us. What
a blessing! In threatening economic times, remember, we hold the trump card: God’s promises
backed by God’s faithfulness.
We at First Baptist have a bold vision, a bold faith, bold prayers and bold ministry. We will
not be afraid. May our God be glorified as we boldly serve Him. We invite you to join with us!
One Day to Change a Life
On September 12th we will be joining churches all across our nation in a “Back To Church Sunday”
campaign. We want to encourage people to rediscover church. According to Lifeway research 38%
of people are receptive to attending church and 82% say they would be open to attend if a friend
invited them.
Why “Back to Church Sunday”? An estimated 150,000 people leave church each week. The reasons
they state are too busy, work or family obligations, or they are just disenchanted with the church.
Most of those who leave also say they feel a void, not as close to God, and emotional and spiritual
needs not met. “The most common motivation of those who would consider returning comes straight
from the soul: To bring me closer to God.” – Steve McConnel.
Do you want to bring someone closer to God? Just ask them to come with you. Only 21% of church
attendees say they have ever invited someone to church. Why? Because we are afraid to. Guess
what? They are waiting for you to ask, don’t be afraid, just do it. We are praying for them
every week. Be a part of changing a life forever. We’ll see you and your friends on
September 12th.
Keep The Faith,
Pastor Randy
